Your Cross

This is every Christian’s favorite subject, meaning the favorite subject to avoid. The problem with avoidance is that taking up your cross is what we were told to do by our Creator, our Savior, our Judge, and the One who called Himself the Truth. Rejection of our cross is to continue to walk in rebellion, unbelief, suppression of the truth, and judging Him. Embracing our cross is to walk in obedience, faith, truth, and submission to Him as Judge. To help you make the decision, simply reflect on this question. Do you want to be purified, accurately represent Him, see Him more clearly, become more like Him, access the abundant life, seek and to save the lost, destroy the works of the devil, lay up rewards in heaven, and give Him maximal glory? Then deny self, take up your cross, and follow Him. Of course you do not “have” to do so. You can continue the status quo of producing dead works, dead testimony, and death to the abundant life. You get to choose, but you do not get to choose what the choices are, and you do not get to choose the consequences of each choice. Sorry, but it is His universe. It is true that pain awaits. But it is also true that awaiting will be blessings that far outweigh the pain. In the slogan of modern day America, just do it.
