Summing Up In Jesus
The will of God can be thought of in terms of His character, His purposes, and His plan. His plan is revealed in Eph. 1:10, namely, “The summing up of all things in Jesus.” As we shall see, the Trinity sums up in Jesus. The essences of God are summed up in Jesus. The expressions of God toward man are all summed up in Jesus. Our calling is to do the same as God, that is to say, to sum up all things in Jesus. The unsaved person submits his own plan for salvation.
The plan of the truly saved person is all summed up in Jesus for salvation. Then the truly saved person faces the next question. “Now that I am saved in Jesus, how am I to live for God?” The plan of God is that you sum up all things in Jesus as a lifestyle. This is what it means to “Abide in Jesus.” The problem for many Christians is that we have our own plan which we prefer to God’s plan. This is life in the flesh with self as the basis. The choice is clear as it always is. We will either submit to God’s plan, thus bringing Him maximal pleasure and glory, and accessing the abundant life for us, or we will cling to our own plan and experience futility. Hmmm….Now let me think!!!!
