Lukewarmness

At every moment, all Christians are either worshiping Jesus or worshiping self. When we are worshiping Jesus, we will be growing in love, growing in the fruit of the Spirit, growing in God’s Sweet Sixteen, and thus growing in Christlikeness. When we are not worshiping Jesus, we will be lukewarm. Lukewarmness in Christians most commonly wears camouflage. A fuller title of this series could be Lukewarmness: Addressing it by Undressing it. I have chosen 16 methods by which Christians wear such camouflage. The camouflage fools ourselves and others but does not fool an omniscient Being. These 16 types of camouflage could be thought of as “God’s Sour Sixteen”. If we are not growing in the “Sweet Sixteen”, it is probably because we are wearing “God’s Sour Sixteen”. Recall the “moonwalk” which was made famous by Michael Jackson. It gives the appearance of moving forward while actually moving backward. These behaviors are a type of spiritual moonwalk. The result is that we continue in self-worship while appearing to worship God. We must understand this truth in order to be set fully free. You may be tempted to skip this series. But try to listen anyway, in order that you have good advice to pass on to all of those that you know who really need to hear it. As always, we get to choose, but we do not get to choose what the choices are and we do not get to choose the consequences of the choices. We can put on lukewarmness and have spiritual stagnation or we can put on the Lord Jesus Christ and experience the abundant life.
