God’s Sweet Sixteen
We have now finished our review of the stages of our Kingdom Progression. We are to be functioning in the Kingdom Life stage. To do so is to abide in Jesus, to sum up all things in Jesus, to function according to the “Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus”, to access empowering grace, to have deliverance from the prison of self, to bring maximal glory to God. All of this can sound very theoretical.
Now we will look at some practical ramifications. We are all familiar with the term “Sweet Sixteen” in its usage related to the NCAA basketball tournament. I have chosen sixteen aspects of the outflow of Kingdom Life and called them “God’s Sweet Sixteen”. If you are functioning in one or more of these at any moment, then you are worshiping God, exalting God, honoring God as God, glorifying God, and loving God. The point is not constant self-examination. That would keep your gaze on yourself and not on Jesus. The point is not to take these and make them into sixteen self-improvement projects. That would be to function according to the “Law of sin and death.” The point is to complete the feedback loop so that you are not self-deceived. The point is that these will be constantly increasing if our eyes are fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
