After being a Christian for 2 or 3 years, I hit a plateau. In prayer, I asked God why I was not experiencing the abundant life that Jesus talked about. Then an intuitive reply came from deep within me. I am convinced that it was not the product of the natural mind. The answer given was this: “You do not experience the abundant life because you do not understand the cross. You do not understand the cross because you do not really believe in hell. You do not believe in hell because you do not understand sin. You do not understand sin because you have no real awareness of My holiness. You have no real awareness of holiness because you fast forwarded past Genesis 1:1. Now, go back to that verse and meditate on it.” Then I did so.
Out of that search came a teaching series. I believe that this series can speak to the unbeliever by explaining basic Christian concepts. It can speak to the new believer by giving him a framework on which to hang each verse of the Bible. It can speak to a long-standing believer by addressing foundational Christian concepts that he thinks that he knows, but does not know as he ought to know. It can be helpful to prepare all Christians to give a defense for the hope that is within you. It can help address difficult subjects in an easy to understand way. It cannot address all such questions to completion simply because only faith pleases God, and none of us will ever be excused from walking by faith in God, and not by our own understanding.
